I have my mouth filled with little stones. I take the wood house and put my head into it. I’m standing on a green doormat facing the audience. I press play on the cassette player. After 5 minutes of silence, it hears a voice from the cassette saying: “To art. I art. You art. He/She/It arts. We art. You art. They art.” I make choreographed movements with every conjugation. After 5 minutes silence the voice says: “You are allowed to smoke, to drink, to eat peanuts, to use your mobile phone and to take pictures”. The audience drinks the beers, eats the peanuts, smokes and takes pictures of me. After 5 minutes, the voice says: “Please, give a grand applause to give thanks to the generosity of the artist”. The audience applaud, they talk with each other, they interact with me in different ways. I’m still standing and don’t move. After 5 minutes the voice says: “Please, loudly express your opinion about this performance to the artists”. The audience do it and continue talking with each other, drinking, smoking, eating, watching me and interacting with me. After 5 minutes the voice repeats: “To art. I art. You...” and I repeat the same choreography. After 5 minutes the cassette finishes. I take a step forward and spit out the stones. I leave

This work is about performance as a moment of social meeting, and an analysis of the audience’s behavior in this situation. The actions of the public, such as drinking, eating, smoking, taking pictures, using a mobile phone, applauding and discussing are included in the performance. I invented the verb “to art” to point out that space, time, and objects, as well as my body and actions, and the bodies and actions of the audience, come together to create the art work.
