VERGLEICHGEWICHT
in colaboration with Rikka Tauriainen
12.6.2008
Artikel 0, Bundesministerium der Justiz, Berlin
Duration: ca. 2 h.
Materials: 2 German law books
Documentation DVD: 16 min.
Description:
Rikka Tauriainen and Andrés Galeano stand on German law books, facing each other. Both wear the same clothes and produce the same movements, one at a time: they close their eyes and slowly raise their arms until they are in the position of a cross, holding this position until they can no longer bear it.
Concept:
This work draws its origins from the Roman goddess Iustitia. Her eyes are blindfolded as she holds a scale in her left hand and a sword in her right, symbolising justness in our society.
Our actions portray and abstract two of the elements of this figure: the blindfolded eyes and the scale. The performance analyses justness and human boundaries.
