Materials: Printed paper, florescent marker, florescent west, 2 square pieces of granite, cigarettes, lighter
Description:
On the wall is a warning, on a piece of paper from a polish school with the mention: NISZCZYSZ! ZNACZYSZ MNIEJ NIZ MYSLISZ (You are on the way to destroying! You mean less than you think). Facing the audience, I’m holding in my hands two square pieces of granite from the street. I put them on the floor, then I look at the warning and I take an orange florescent marker from my pocket and continuously underling the word NISZCZYSZ! until the paper ruptures. I take the head of the marker between my teeth, then return to the audience, I put my hands on the stones and do push-ups until exhaustion. From push-ups to genuflection I face the audience again and say:NIE MOWIE PO POLSKU (I don’t speak polish). I take a package of cigarettes from my pocket , the brand is MESKI (masculines). I take one and hold it horizontally at eye level between thumb and index, then from the other pocket I take a white lighter, hold it light till the cigarette lights, then let it burn to the tips of my fingers. Finally, I crash the remains and leave the space.
Concept:
I take some elements from the road workers world and from the school world for developing actions, that are dealing with the dialectic process of creation and destruction. I play with the poetical power of paradoxical actions for questioning our education, values and identity.
